Indoctrinated Or Innoculated?

Indoctrinated Or Innoculated?

I’m not sure which disturbs me more…the idea of forcing your children to adhere to your religious beliefs, or the floating torsos of the genetic abominations in this picture.

Actual content to come after I bleach my eyes.

I Think Hobbes Was On To Something

I Think Hobbes Was On To Something

Calvin:  “Do you believe in the devil? You know, a supreme evil being dedicated to the temptation, corruption, and destruction of man?”
Hobbes:  “I’m not sure that man needs the help.”

I’d say Hobbes is rather philosophical for a stuffed tiger. Then again, we’re also accepting the notion that a six year old could conceive such a question in the first place. Read More…

Like A Needle In A Needlestack

Choice.

Few things in our lives share the necessity of choice, and fewer still possess the same potential impact upon our lives. Our choices influence not only our immediate situations, but also our futures in ways we cannot possibly hope to conceive at the moment of making said choices. Some choices are easily made, either through a plethora of information available and applicable to the decision-making process, or simply because of  intuition or instincts. Other choices are far more difficult, and the process leading up to some choices may take years or even decades to progress before we are sufficiently prepared to make them.

The Poetry Of The Earth Is Never Dead

The Poetry Of The Earth Is Never Dead

I will say that we are doing our damnedest to kill it, perhaps just to spite John Keats.

While I’m not an environmentalist, I do often muse on the plague mankind has become upon this planet. We are consumers in every sense of the word, buying or simply taking what we want with little regard for the consequences of our actions. However, in the interest of brevity, I’ll spare you the Greenpeace propaganda and get straight to the point. Read More…

In The Beginning…

Welcome to Athyist, I hope you find something of interest here. The purpose of this blog is to serve as a medium for my musings on life, death, religion, and the universe in general. I hope to foster an open environment here for discussion on these topics, and I promise that I will not censor any opinions so long as they are not spam or obvious attempts to troll.

I highly encourage all who visit to comment on articles which catch their attention, or to simply send me a message through the contact page. I will respond to all who take the time to contact me, and am more than willing to entertain suggestions for article topics.

This blog will be updated every Sunday, so please stop by weekly to see what new topics I’m blabbering about.
